walking habits
i’ve noticed a few quirks with my walking habits lately… or more, people have drawn my attention to a few walking quirks that i wasn’t aware that i did. let me know if i really do these things and if they’re normal and if you do these things too!
1. i like a lot of buffer space between myself and the people i’m walking with? (i can somewhat believe this quirk since i do have it when i drive… i actually drive with more regard to my spacing with other cars than to the speed limit
) so earlier this week, while walking outside to get lunch, my roommate suddenly started to laugh at me for no apparent reason!!
so apparently, she noticed that as she walked closer to the right (i was to the right of her), i was also and started to brush up against the parked cars. while i was aware of the cars i was brushing up against, i guess i didn’t think too much of this since i already have issues with walking straight. i figured it was just me being imbalanced and running into the cars. i’m not sure whether i was brushing up against the cars to maintain the spacing between us… hrm… had never thought of that.
2. when walking across the street with people, i cross over so that the people i’m walking with will act as a buffer to any car attempting to run us over? this happened in pittsburgh, i was walking with some people from my MISM project group (where? i am not sure… as i rarely saw them outside of hamburger hall…) and as we were crossing the street, i was walking on the outside (first in line to be hit by a car) with one of them. and because in pittsburgh you can cross intersections diagonally (both directions of traffic are stopped for pedestrians), i cut to the inside to save some steps. hey, i’m lazy… the shortest distance between two points is a straight line, right? well the person i was walking with starts making fun of me. oh using me as protection, eh? so i’ll be the first one hit by a car! bah! it just seemed very natural to cut to the inside and save a few steps! i hadn’t even thought of that. (OH WAIT… my memory is blurring… it was either someone from my MISM project… or kate from church… in any case, it was someone i don’t normally walk with who noticed it)
anyone do these same things? hrm… i guess i also have some quirks when i run (i’m told that i run a lot like phoebe from friends? i am not sure)

Definitely like Phoebe. That was funny when I saw you running in Oakland and knew it was you
