i don’t read email

i just realized i don’t do a good job of reading email

i used to have ckimail as part of my login script at cmu so when i logged into any server, new message subject lines would appear before i even had to go into pine. but since i rarely read all my emails, it got to the point that it would take me a few extra minutes to get into the command prompt because the messages would be scrolling across my screen. then there was that time for networks when we had to demo our project and i couldn’t log into any of the machines in wean because when i logged in, i would crash my own account. i think maybe it had to do with the emails… (linux/unix confuses me, someone set it up for me and since i didn’t know how they set it up, i never removed it) angela used to make fun of me because of the emails :(

currently, there are 380 new messages in my gmail account. they’re not spam or anything, just new emails i never got around to reading. i think talida saw my gmail mailbox one time and thought i had a lot of spam. no…

now at my job, i have 1243 new messages in my inbox and 1019 new messages that were filtered into a separate mailbox. i actually get a lot of “junk” work emails, automated result messages generated by the scripts. otherwise, i think my mailbox would be a heck of a lot cleaner. but yea… i don’t like to read emails.

i think when angela saw all my emails once she asked me why i didn’t just delete them. it’s ’cause i miiight eventually need to read those emails! she said she had a friend who was also similar to me, with a bunch of unread messages. but he would occassionally just select all the messages and delete them without reading, figuring that if it was important, he would’ve already read it. anyone else like this?
