i havn't read the article in full, but based on the job vs beliefs...when you take on a medical profession, you take the oath to save someone's life, no matter what the cost. there are moments where the patient themselves can't make a decision and immediate family members aren't reachable, but in those moments the doctors should be doing everything they can to save their lives.

as with controversial things like "morning after pill" "abortion", if those things are a big personal problems then they need to think twice about being in that profession. if their reason for being in that profession is to resolve things in the biblical manner than they should make sure they label their praxis accordingly. your clinic should state those things loud and clear. don't let your patients come in, and then turn them down. and christian doctors that feel strongly about certain practices shouldn't apply for jobs in a general hospital or clinic where they feel they have to choose.

this problem also exists for any doctors. some doctors see their patients and they sometimes don't agree with how the family / patients deal with a situation. for example, keeping how severe the cancer is from their loved ones, or the family member not telling the patient is probably going to not make it. at those moments doctors are strictly not allowed to meddle, and if they disagree that the situation should be handled differently, they are still not allowed to step in. this situation also has this personal vs professional problem.

I think it's hard to keep a job if you have strong personal beliefs that contrast with what the norm is. If you're constantly opposing status quo, then maybe people wouldn't keep you around very long.

thought about it some more and was also curious what people thought of:

are you not allowed to have your own personal beliefs if you're in the medical field because everything is so life and death (as opposed to the corporate world where if you refuse, nothing major happens)?
