i’m not sure… but my middle two letters keep changing. i’m pretty sure about the I and the P… but i think i’m about 50/50 for the T/F and S/N indicators… after reading the description for INFP, i guess i agree with that…

what type are you?

i hate them.

lesson learned.  it’s not really worth the ice cream from the ice cream man if you have to run through bushes (apparently) infested with bugs… :(

Great Googali Moogali Goo high school!

Tuesday, July 10th, 2007

was reading an article from the washingtonpost about the latest trends in high school naming…

“Of almost 3,000 public schools in Florida, five honor George Washington, compared to 11 named after manatees. . . . In the last two decades, a public school built in Arizona was almost fifty times more likely to be named after such things as a mesa or a cactus than after a president.”

baaaaaaaah, the Great Googali Moogali Goo is very excited and eagerly awaits news from Florida about when a new high school will be named after him!

it’s that time again…

Monday, July 9th, 2007

a few days ago, i ran out of toilet paper. and, barring any unforeseen bathroom adventures, i replaced the empty roll of toilet paper with a brand new roll for the very last time at my bellforest apartment.

i absolutely hate HATE moving… which is why, 3 years out of college, i am moving for the 5th time. i haven’t had the same address for more than a year since i graduated high school. it seems every time i catch up with old high school friends, i’m always saying “hey, come over! you haven’t seen my new place yet!” for awhile, it was even “hey come over and see my new place before i have to move again!” i know i moved a lot in college (constantly having to move in and out of campus housing and then later on, moving in and out of summer sublets. there was even one summer where i stayed at 2 sublets, meaning from may to august, i moved 4 times), but i thought it would end once i started working…

i’ve noticed my room has gotten progressively more and more messy with each move. i hope this trend does not continue. i think it was because with my first apartment, i thought i would be staying there for awhile so i actually decorated it and tried to keep it clean. then the 2nd place was only for 6 months… and then after that, it was only 9 months… and so when i finally moved to bellforest, even though i signed a year lease… i kind of knew i wasn’t going to be staying there for more than a year.

apartments are like tissues to me. i just use them and then throw them out.

elevator hog!!

Thursday, July 5th, 2007

the elevators in my office suck. they’re not programmed very well and very often, u’ll get into the office and (because the stairwell is locked from the lobby) have to wait for an elevator for 10 minutes because all 3 of them are on their way up to the 11th floor or something dumb.

anyways, one morning i come in and the line for the elevator is not long at all. just as i get in line, an elevator arrives and we all move to go in… the two people directly in front of me are chatting away about something or rather. i get to the elevator door and am surprised to find that the door is blocked. there were only like 5 people in front of me! i know the elevators fit more!

seems guy in front of me has decided that he wants to stand in the middle of the entire elevator RIGHT in front of the doorway. seriously, he barely even took a step back into the elevator before he stopped. if you ask me, i think the worst spot to be in the elevator is in the middle because you’re in everbody’s way when they want to get off or on. whatever. i squeeze by him on the side and press 4 for my floor. someone else has previously pressed 2 so i figure it’s guy in the middle and he’s only stood in the middle of the elevator because he’s going to get off first.

on the 2nd floor, another person gets off. i’m thinking hrmm… what a weirdo. why is he in the middle of the elevator if he’s not going to get off first? suddenly, he pressed 9… he didn’t even press his floor when he got on the elevator! he was too busy chatting away! AND he’s not even getting off early!

so we’re still going up and the guy is chatting away still. he starts to do exaggerated arm movements… i could make fun of him… but i guess i also tend to use my hands when i talk. but he’s REALLY flailing about! and since he’s in the middle of the elevator, everyone’s kind of pushed to the corners avoiding his arms. the lady he’s speaking to seems to have noticed he’s in the middle of the elevator flailing so she tries to move towards a corner too, but he just still stands there.

the elevator reaches 4… and the doors open. i move to get out. usually when i’m in the back of the elevator and start to move, people in front shift to the sides to let me out. not this guy! he continues to just stand there and flail his arms in conversation!! at this point in time, i’ve already made my move for the door and there’s no where to go. so i actually run into his upper arm. i actually gave him a somewhat annoyed look… like get out of my way. he just retracts his arm but doesn’t take a step away from the doorway!!! ridiculous!!

here’s my diagram of the elevator:

i’m the blue blob trying to get on the elevator in the first picture. note to the red blob blocking the doorway. at this point, HALF the elevator is open! but he’s blocking the doorway! the next picture is how we rode up. the last picture is when i tried to exit the elevator but red blob was still flail about in conversation.

what a hog.

not following any advice

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2007

one of the practice essays in kaplan’s SAT prep book is about advice… i forget now what the exact prompt is, but i think students generally write about whether following others’ advice is beneficial or not. most students will take the position that following someone’s advice is good.

BUT what if… u didn’t listen to anyone’s advice? i can think of so many examples of when following someone’s advice has worked out, but i’m sure there are some instances where listening to someone else’s advice has backfired… i just can’t think if any off the top of my head. i wonder what percentage is more, if it’s 50/50 or more skewed. because in some sense, i think following others’ advice should have a higher success rate because the other person should have an objective view of the situation and often times, you seek advice from a wide variety of people, who pull from a wealth of experience… so really, following advice is more like picking the best options from a number of alternatives whereas when you try to do things on your, you have a limited number of alternatives.

so i’m going to try to experiment for the next couple of weeks. from now on, i’m going to try to not take anyone’s advice. i’m not going to listen to anyone and i’m just going to do whatever i want. now the problem with this is the fuzzy in-between. if i’m about to do something and someone suggests something related to that… i shouldn’t not (sorry, double negative) do what they suggested simply because they suggested it… but then, if i do end up doing what they suggested, does that count as taking their advice? hrmm… not sure what to do about that just yet…

i blame julie.

http://www.handdrawngames.com/DesktopTD/Game.asp

i get hooked to games easily. i know i get obsessed. that’s why i avoid games a lot of times because i just can’t spend that much time on them. during college, i missed meetings because i couldn’t leave my computer during a game (hey, there’s no pause button!). so i knew to avoid this game that julie was raving about.

all week long, she was like “desktop tower defense!” every other IM “desktop tower defense!” (ok ok, maybe not that bad… :P ) i was really busy this week trying to finish up some projects so i avoided it as best i could. plus, at work it’s really hard to play a game which requires your undivided attention because u do need to be on the lookout for coworkers/managers.

so after work this friday, i came home and decided to play the game for just a little. i still had a lot of things i wanted to do around the apartment and i actually didnt complete all my projects at work, still had a few wrapup tasks i was going to do over the weekend. d’oohhh…. i got so hooked! i woke up at 9am saturday morning and played til 3pm before i was able to draw myself away from the game!!

now, it’s sunday morning… and i’m supposed to be getting ready for church but i’m contemplating skipping and/or going to a closer church. my “reason” is because i have a lot of work to do so going to MD for church is kind of far… i should come back home and finish stuff… the real reason? i really want to play desktop tower defense :(
