note: well i’ve updated the title of my post because the westboro baptist church seems to just be a family of crazy psychos. but i guess my point still is that it sucks that people as crazy as this phelps family will claim to be christians. because most people will think they are a real church. a lot of people won’t know that they’re a cult… so they still ruin it for regular christians. because they’re the ones that grab the headlines with their crazy protests and outspoken ways. it really sucks. 
i don’t like christians when i hear news such as:
Church Group Vows To Protest Ledger’s Funeral Because of gay film role…
“Yes, WBC will picket this pervert’s funeral, in religious protest and warning: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked.” Gal. 6:7.
”Heath Ledger is now in hell” it continues. “[He] has begun serving his eternal sentence there - beside which, nothing else about Heath Ledger is relevant or consequential.”
“God hates Fags! & Fag-Enablers!”

the man just died. funeral plans haven’t even been announced (and ha! like they’re going to announce it now after you’ve threatened to picket it). i know i haven’t read the bible cover to cover, but i think i missed the part where God uses the word “fag”… and to ignore ALL of Heath Ledger’s contributions to society and say that everything about him was inconsequential is just disgusting. stop using a tragedy to push your own social agenda. that church disgusts me.
it’s churches like that westboro baptist church that turn people against religion. when such outspoken people claim to be christian, they ruin it for everyone… why would i ever want to be associated with christianity when they are acting like such buttheads? i’m ashamed to be christian if they’re christian.

you know, i think you’ll find westboro baptist church is actually a cult… they’re not affiliated with the baptist church at all. kenji wrote an interesting piece about them a while ago in our church newsletter.. i’ll try and dig it up.

The church actually consists of a single pastor and his kids / grandkids / etc.

wow… i really like this video!! the narrator is awesome. tho the content is disturbing…..
i like (and by like i mean, it’s crazy to the point of amusing…) the “fags eat feces and that’s a fact!” and the whole protesting at dead soldier’s funeral because of homosexuality… because thoooose two are clearly related…. “thou shall not commit adultery… thats not being gay; that’s cheating on someone”.. oo yeah, and that big poster “god hates you” sign!
it’s scary to think there are crazy people like this out there.
i think i need to change the title of this post though…. i guess it should be more crazy “christian” cults stink.
