tune #5

Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

found an instructional video that teaches the chords and the strum for this song. so HOPEFULLY it sounds more like a song, though i wouldn’t bet on it. in the middle when it goes to the bridge, there are bar(re) chords that i can’t play… it’ll become quite apparent when the bridge is :P it’s kind of long and repetitive again… i guess all songs will sound that way without any lyrics… or maybe it’s just my playing…

i’m running out of time to complete my “learn how to play something recognizable” item on my 101 things to do so please take a guess!

ann can’t guess because she already knows what song this is. actually… it’d be kind of funny if ann couldn’t recognize the song despite all the practicing we did together. that would mean i’ve truly butchered this song.

we just renewed our lease.

for the FIRST time since 2000, my address is NOT changing! yippee! hooray!! we’re hoping to have a party to celebrate this momentous occasion some time in the summer! seriously, this is such an achievement! i wish to frame my lease.

we’re fairly happy with post tysons corner. it was one of the larger 2 bedroom/2 bathroom layouts we saw. and it was by far the cheapest rent because we got a deal on the place since it was already vacant. even now, with a slight rent increase, it’s cheaper than the next cheapest place we were looking at last year.

the one complaint i have is regarding the bathroom. specifically MY bathroom. i’m not sure what problems ann may have with her bathroom, but my bathroom has:

  • flooded twice due to a leak from upstairs, which resulted in…
  • maintenance coming in and tearing up all the drywall above my bathroom to fix the leak. then they put a trash bag to cover up the piping and said that the drywallers would come and plaster later that week. the whole week when i was showering i was SO scared the upstairs bathtub would fall on me!
  • flooded twice from the toilet. now, anyone who knows me knows that i have issues with toilets old and new due to the difference in flushing mechanisms. how do u know if you’re supposed to hold down the flusher until the water has gone down (old models) or release the flusher immediately (newer models)!? the toilet in my bathroom further perplexes me because it is the ONLY toilet i’ve ever experienced that will overflow… with NOTHING IN IT. yesterday, i was barely home as i was running errands and watching indiana jones. i came home from indiana jones, having not used the bathroom all day and proceeded to pee. then, as i normally do, i flushed. but rather than go down, the toilet decided to overflow. even now, after i’ve bought a plunger, i am still unable to get it to flush properly. and i am thoroughly confused as to what could be causing the clog… i didn’t use THAT much toilet paper!
  • ants. ALL OVER THE PLACE. every day, when i step into the shower, i kill approximately 10 ants who retardedly decide to climb around the bathtub/shower area. dude, these are the DUMBEST ants ever! there’s no food in my bathroom! so the ant infestation got so bad that i had to throw away my toothbrush (because i came in and there was an ant crawling all over it). we complained to management who had pest control come and take a look. they set ant poison and supposedly sprayed the outside of the apartment to prevent them from coming in. they continued to come in. but rather than crawl all over the place, they came in and died…. all over the place! i’m not sure which one is better. to know that there are SO many ants that used to be alive and likely crawling all over the place? or to have a BUNCH of dead ants scattered all over the bathroom. i took some pictures, but unfortunately my camera’s zoom isnt that great so it just looks like there’s a lot of dirt. in actuality, there were like at least 3 clusterings of over 100 dead ants, not to mention the random scatterings of dead ants on the floor and on my counter top. yuck!

but besides the bathroom, overall post tysons corner has been a nice place to live! i’m looking forward to year 2 :D

i wish that

  • every weekend could be a long weekend!
  • i could beat guitar hero… i can’t play those crazy solos! i don’t even see the notes fast enough
  • i could play the real guitar. it’s been awhile since i had a “name that tune” clip… i think there are a few songs i could record soon and let you guys have a guess at what it is i’m trying to butcher… er i mean play.
  • i had this awesome license plate that reads “EATTHE” :P i was in google reader reading posts when i saw erica’s posting… hilarious!!! i saw her comment asking whether it was my license plate, but did not know how to respond to her. i really wish i had this license plate. it’s hilarious!!!
  • (related to the above bullet…) a certain little baby boy would come visit me so i could take a bite out of his chubby cheeks. this little baby boy’s name rhymes with iron or jaron.
  • my leg was completely healed already! this weather is ridiculously nice and i want to play outside in it! the past few days have been sunny and windy, the perfect combination to fly a kite in!

feeling old

Monday, May 12th, 2008

last night, i actually had backaches. i rarely get backaches. i think it was because i’m still walking somewhat awkwardly because of my ankle (it feels better now, but still doesn’t bend as flexibly as it used to). so, after walking around the mall with my parents, i was feeling some weird pain from my back right above my left leg (it’s the left ankle that’s messed up). i felt rather old because my back was aching while i was heating my ankle to try to get it move better. ann even laughed at me because i was attempting to alternate heating both my aches.

but then… this morning!!! so everyone’s always say that in this day and age, people are getting married later and later and putting off children later and later. really now? are they? are they really??? another one of my friends just told me the great news that they are expecting their first child in late december (i think i’m safe to blog about this since no one really reads my blog so by the time someone does see this post, the couple will have already told everyone).

i was already feeling kind of old because a couple of months back… rather than having 2 weddings on the same weekend, i actually had 2 BABY SHOWERS for the same weekend. but now, another baby’s on its way! it’s great news and so exciting for them! but on the same hand, makes me feel rather old. and i’m not even having the kid!

at least hanging out with my parents makes me feel young. so the reason why we were walking around the mall all yesterday was because we were shopping for a little “mei”. my mom’s had this lamb for awhile now. i’ll admit, it’s rather cute. she affectionately named it “jie” after my sister, who’s born in the year of the lamb. she has actually called me before to tell me what the lamb’s been up to…. she’ll be like “jie was studying really hard…” (makes sense… sister’s in med school) “and then she fell asleep…” (still perfectly believable because my sister is more narcoleptic than me!) “and fell off the couch” (ok… wait a minute…)

so, i complained. what the heck? where’s a little “mei”??? so my mom found some of my old stuffed animals and grabbed one of the dogs to be me. first, the dog is like a third of the size of the lamb! way too small! second, the dog is PINK. with blue ears! c’mon!!! third, it’s the principle of the matter! she went OUT and BOUGHT a jie… but just rummaged through some old toys for a mei?? so i complained again. apparently, my mom started to go into toy stores with her friends to find a little “mei”…. she came back reporting that they really didn’t make cute dogs like they did cute lamb. haha, i was just amused that she would go toy shopping with her friends.

so we went in search and really, i have to agree with my mom. the dogs are actually either not cute or realistic looking (which while cute, isn’t very playful). we finally decided on “whiffer”, one of the beanie pluffies. she’s rather cute and during dinner, my mom was playing with her and petting her:)

on a side note: there was also a rather cute lamb beanie pluffie. i told my mom to put it down!!!

Dwight Schrute: It appears that the website has become alive. This happens to computers and robots sometimes. Am I scared of a stupid computer? Please. The computer should be scared of me. I have been salesman of the month for 13 of the last 12 months. You heard me right. I did so well last February that Corporate gave me two plaques in lieu of a pay raise.

hilarious. too bad it’s realistic too.
