post tysons corner apartments - 2 thumbs up; post tysons corner bathrooms - 2 thumbs down

we just renewed our lease.

for the FIRST time since 2000, my address is NOT changing! yippee! hooray!! we’re hoping to have a party to celebrate this momentous occasion some time in the summer! seriously, this is such an achievement! i wish to frame my lease.

we’re fairly happy with post tysons corner. it was one of the larger 2 bedroom/2 bathroom layouts we saw. and it was by far the cheapest rent because we got a deal on the place since it was already vacant. even now, with a slight rent increase, it’s cheaper than the next cheapest place we were looking at last year.

the one complaint i have is regarding the bathroom. specifically MY bathroom. i’m not sure what problems ann may have with her bathroom, but my bathroom has:

  • flooded twice due to a leak from upstairs, which resulted in…
  • maintenance coming in and tearing up all the drywall above my bathroom to fix the leak. then they put a trash bag to cover up the piping and said that the drywallers would come and plaster later that week. the whole week when i was showering i was SO scared the upstairs bathtub would fall on me!
  • flooded twice from the toilet. now, anyone who knows me knows that i have issues with toilets old and new due to the difference in flushing mechanisms. how do u know if you’re supposed to hold down the flusher until the water has gone down (old models) or release the flusher immediately (newer models)!? the toilet in my bathroom further perplexes me because it is the ONLY toilet i’ve ever experienced that will overflow… with NOTHING IN IT. yesterday, i was barely home as i was running errands and watching indiana jones. i came home from indiana jones, having not used the bathroom all day and proceeded to pee. then, as i normally do, i flushed. but rather than go down, the toilet decided to overflow. even now, after i’ve bought a plunger, i am still unable to get it to flush properly. and i am thoroughly confused as to what could be causing the clog… i didn’t use THAT much toilet paper!
  • ants. ALL OVER THE PLACE. every day, when i step into the shower, i kill approximately 10 ants who retardedly decide to climb around the bathtub/shower area. dude, these are the DUMBEST ants ever! there’s no food in my bathroom! so the ant infestation got so bad that i had to throw away my toothbrush (because i came in and there was an ant crawling all over it). we complained to management who had pest control come and take a look. they set ant poison and supposedly sprayed the outside of the apartment to prevent them from coming in. they continued to come in. but rather than crawl all over the place, they came in and died…. all over the place! i’m not sure which one is better. to know that there are SO many ants that used to be alive and likely crawling all over the place? or to have a BUNCH of dead ants scattered all over the bathroom. i took some pictures, but unfortunately my camera’s zoom isnt that great so it just looks like there’s a lot of dirt. in actuality, there were like at least 3 clusterings of over 100 dead ants, not to mention the random scatterings of dead ants on the floor and on my counter top. yuck!

but besides the bathroom, overall post tysons corner has been a nice place to live! i’m looking forward to year 2 :D

i’d take ants and bathroom issues over mice, crickets, having an old landlord lady, parking issues, random car vandalism, and getting kicked out.. (did i miss anything?)

    good pick!
