this puts a damper on my grand plans to give my parents my google voice number so i don’t have to listen through all their voicemails… i’m still going to have to listen through them because the transcription makes no sense!
i’m still settling into my new place… it usually takes me about a month to get everything set up and feeling like home. i think this place might take even longer because it feels so empty.
so i posted about my house and have gotten a few responses… i was warned of scammers and i’m actually still following up on potential “friends of friends” renters before i really pursue the craigslist/facebook renters… but i received this email very soon after posting to craigslist:

I saw your advert that You have a room available for rent and i am interested in knowing the availability of the place and i will also want to know more about the neighborhood ,the place and the utilities included…? I am Debbie Laura,a Medical Humanitarian Nurse ,and have been involve since the past 8 years,taking care of the motherless babies,Homeless one and all of that,I am still kind of young because i just turned 27yrs old…I Can speak both English and french.,i love to live with clean people,caring,responsible,neat type. it seemed suspicious… you claim to speak english yet your email is worded like a fob! i also didn’t like the whole 5′7″ straight business… this wasn’t a personal!!! it was a listing for a place to live! so i didn’t respond to her.
a few days later (and a few normal responses later), i got another seemingly normal email asking about the room:
Hi,
I am interested in renting with you..please let me know if the place is still available for rent and also send me details,pics and time frame which it will be available.thanks
so i responded to her with just a little more detail and got this response:

would have loved us to see before making any plan but i really have a
lot of things to do right now,But will be okay if you can tell me more
about the place and you,as my uncle is presently sick and i have to go
see him,but really want to hold a place down…More about me again i am a nurse..I am the neat type,I like
honest,responsible,trustworthy and hardworking people while I dislike
lazy,messy,uncaring people and I love pets so much,am quiet and easy
