i found this bug 11/23. was trying to go to work early on wednesday so i could leave early… but then i ran into this bug on my way outta my room!

after killing the bug, i dared to get a closeup. i was tempted to print out this picture and put it as a warning to all the bugs, but then tina said all the bugs could get mad and seek revenge…

i found this sucker on friday! i freaked out at first because it was sitting right next to me while i was playing drums! after whacking it many times with some junk mail… i realized it was already dead (that’s why i had such an easy time killing it)
i got a BUNCH of paper towels and scooped it up when it made a crunching sound! A CRUNCHING SOUND!! nasty
it seems i bought a digital camera for the sole purpose of taking pictures of bugs….i should start a bug category for this blog….
another bug was in the house yesterday! i came home and went down to my room for a bit, came back upstairs, started popping popcorn, went down to the living room to turn on the tv, came back upstairs to get the popcorn, went back down to the living room… was going to come back up the stairs to get some napkins… when there it was! right there on the steps i had walked up/down multiple times!!
bah! it’s the same jumping bug that we spent 30 minutes trying to kill last time!! so i started to look around for something to hit him with. unfortunately, trash was just taken out that morning so there wasnt any junk mail to use!! after searching my room (climbed over the railing in the dining room into the living room just to avoid the bug), i sat waiting in the dining room for julie or tina to get home. (nuts, talida went home to texas for the weekend)
when julie came home, she also tried to find something to hit the bug with. but she couldn’t find anything either. but ever the resourceful person, she pulled a macgyver! using a plastic cup, a postcard, saran wrap, and tape… she managed to catch the bug!

i was pretty useless in the bug catching 
i can’t get too close to a live bug for very long. even after the bug was in the cup, i couldn’t be near it if it jumped. it just freaks me out… i don’t mind whacking them a million times until they die, but i can’t see them hopping around.

random update
the townhouse i moved into has a bug problem. specifically the area near my basement bedroom door seems to have an infestation of cricket/grasshopper/jumping bugs! the very first bug was within a few days of moving in. i killed one right on the stairs. the 2nd one was last week… he was hopping all over the area near my door when tina saw it. after half a hour of freaking out and an overturned sofa (he jumped underneath the sofa and disappeared in it!!!), talida finally got that sucker! THEN this past weekend, as i was walking into my room, another one of those jumpers was jumping all near my feet. i freaked out and ran outta my room. luckily, the bug was found and isaac shoe-ed it out of the house.
… THEN on sunday afternoon, julie and i were secretly practicing DDR when we both smelled something burning. after ignoring it for awhile (the heat vents some times smell when the heat turns on), we finally went investigating. we discovered it was coming from my room. great! julie suggested that maybe a bug flew into my halogen. i didn’t really think that would happen (my halogen is REALLY far into my room, nowhere near the door with the cricket problem. plus, what freak cricket can jump that high into a halogen) so i didnt think too much when i went to check so my nose was RIGHT next to the light… and yup, she was right. there was this HUGEEEEEEEEEE bee-like bug completely fried just sitting in my halogen… ewwww. my room stunk for a couple of hours afterwards.
work… i’m sure i shouldn’t be putting up exact quotes, but this was just too awesome to pass up. “The moves that are happening this year are ‘eviction’ moves – therefore they need to be done quickly.” … thanks for evicting me nameless company that i work for! even if you’re evicting me, i much rather you euphemize it just a little! … maybe call it an urgent move, necessary move to consolidate teams, i don’t know…! but evict!? who uses these words!? several friends have pointed out (not to give away too much information so that people know what nameless company i work for) that perhaps it was a “foreigner” who was writing this email and therefore didn’t realize the poor word choice when composing this email… hahah, i cracked up when they suggested that!
ddr… the DDR pads i purchased arrived last week! bryan lent me 2 of his DDR games (unfortunately, neither game included any britney songs )… i really suck at the game, but it’s been fun trying to learn it. i still prefer the taiko drum master game 
but DDR is better exercise!
