Tune 7!

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

it’s been awhile since i’ve posted any guitar butchering… but i have been trying to practice! it’s especially productive since danny usually has dan teach him some stuff after small group which makes me get out the guitar more often too! thanks danny and dan!

this song is NOT one of the songs i learned with them. try to guess what it is! :D i actually don’t know how to play the F chord (and u’ll be able to tell whenever that chord comes up!) and i start to laugh when i hit a particularly bad stretch.

Tune 6

c’mon! this one’s kind of distinct, no? granted it’s repetitive… but i did try to strum a rhythm to it…. ok, i know. i suck. i think your best bet to guessing it may be in the beginning before i get too off beat. once i get into the middle, it starts to get more and more off beat.

found an instructional video that teaches the chords and the strum for this song. so HOPEFULLY it sounds more like a song, though i wouldn’t bet on it. in the middle when it goes to the bridge, there are bar(re) chords that i can’t play… it’ll become quite apparent when the bridge is :P it’s kind of long and repetitive again… i guess all songs will sound that way without any lyrics… or maybe it’s just my playing…

i’m running out of time to complete my “learn how to play something recognizable” item on my 101 things to do so please take a guess!

ann can’t guess because she already knows what song this is. actually… it’d be kind of funny if ann couldn’t recognize the song despite all the practicing we did together. that would mean i’ve truly butchered this song.

Tune #4

so it’s been awhile since i’ve attempted another Name That Tune! here’s my latest attempt at #11 on my 1001 Day Project… i’ve actually been practicing other songs more than this one (perhaps i’ll share those butchered masterpieces later)… in fact, i just looked up the notes to this song about a hour ago because i heard it on tv (HINT! HINT!) and thought it sounded nice.

it does sound nice. too bad i butchered another song (ask me about my accidentally sad rendition of “you are my sunshine” on the harmonica!) and ruined it for the rest of you guys.

i’d like to point out a few key things…

    1. Note the uneven rhythm to the song… it’s NOT supposed to be that way
    2. The reason why I was able to pick up the song in about a hour is that it uses the 4 most common chords known to mankind!! good luck identifying this song! ’cause after i’ve completely removed the rhythm, it’s just the same 4 chords repeated over and over again. this could be just as bad as Tune #2 though… Tune #2 i attempted to play a bit of the melody to help you identify it. this time, i didn’t even bother. HA!

as always, this is honestly my best attempt at the song. i’m not purposefully playing it badly… it just comes out that way :( take a stab at guessing it… Tune 4

Tune #3

oops, i deleted this post by accident… reposted

this should be an easy one!! so far, i haven’t had to give any clues! i’m impressed!

Tune #2

hahahaa… this song is even harder to guess. It’s basically the same 4 chords repeated over and over again, in almost the same order! i don’t even attempt to play the song with any rhythm… the song is COMPLETELY devoid of any rhythm. really, i can’t even identify it.

Tune 2

any guesses??

Tune #1

Can you guess what song I’m playing? BAH!

Tune 1

Will update with more clues later, as I suspect no one will be able to tell what the heck I was playing. Sadly, this is the song that (in my opinion) I’m the closest to sounding like the actual song.
